Notting Hill Carnival: Four Stabbings And More Than 300 Arrests

More than 300 people have been arrested at this year's Notting Hill Carnival.

The majority of arrests were for offences involving drugs and offensive weapons.

Police said 26 knives were seized during the annual two-day event in west London.

Four people were stabbed on Sunday afternoon.

At 4:25pm, a 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

His condition has since improved, and is not now life-threatening. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.

At 4:28pm, police were called to reports of another stabbing, this time involving a 20-year-old man.

And then at 5.09pm, officers were alerted to a further incident, involving two boys aged 15 and 16 who had been stabbed too.

Officers also seized a large amount of compressed nitrous oxide.

The contents of the canister apparently had a street value of more than £150,000.

The carnival - celebrating its 50th anniversary - has featured 60 bands and 38 sound systems.

Jasmin Castrioty, 25, who had gone along for the first time, said: "The rhythm is absolutely stunning. I can actually feel it.

"Next year we are coming back."
