Nottingham Forest issue statement as chairman steps down
Nottingham Forest have announced Tom Cartledge has stepped down from the role of chairman after little more than 12 months in post.
The Reds fan has stepped away from the job with immediate effect, with the club saying he wants to “dedicate more time” to running his family businesses. Nicolas Randall KC, who Cartledge replaced as chairman in August 2023, has been reappointed to the job.
Cartledge is to remain on the club’s board of directors. Forest said in a statement that he will continue to support the Reds’ “growth strategy off the pitch”.
Of his decision to leave, Cartledge explained: “I have had an incredible experience over the last 15 months, working for the club I love and have supported all my life. It has been an honour and a privilege to help deliver on Mr Marinakis’ ambitious plans for the future of our club and I am proud of the progress we have achieved together on a number of key projects.
“Over the last year and a half we have taken significant steps in securing the club’s future at an expanded City Ground and I will now continue to advise the owners on the real estate strategy whilst spending more time working in my family business. Under Mr Marinakis the club is in great hands to continue our journey back to the top of English football and I look forward to doing all I can to make this happen.”
Randall held the role of chairman for six years, having been appointed when Evangelos Marinakis bought the club in 2017. He remained on the board of directors after being replaced as chairman by Cartledge in August 2023.
Randall said: “I would like to extend my thanks to Tom for his hard work and dedication over the past year and a half. During that time, it has been a privilege to have remained closely involved with the club as a member of the board, and I am delighted to resume the role of chairman today. I would like to thank Evangelos Marinakis and my fellow board members for entrusting me with the position once again, and I look forward to the next exciting chapter in our history.”
