Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel is said to be unhappy with the way Corinthians have handled his expected move to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds look set to sign the Brazilian this summer as they reshuffle their options between the posts. Miguel is said to be in line to sign a five-year deal at the City Ground, with his 4 million euros (£3.4m) release clause due to be met.

However, he recently came in for criticism from Corinthians boss Antonio Oliveira amid claims he faked injury to avoid playing before his anticipated switch. Those suggestions are now said to have been disputed by the 25-year-old, who reportedly has a “recurring” ankle problem.

According to Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte, Miguel has required injections to play in some games. The report states Corinthians have been aware of the “recurrent” issue.

The player is said to have sprained his ankle in training last week and believed he could not play. However, the incident led to Oliveira speaking out about the shot-stopper.

Miguel was said to have complained of ankle problems ahead of Corinthians’ match against Athletico Paranaense last weekend, but was cleared to play by club doctors who could not detect any injury. Despite being given the green light to play, Miguel was then not in Oliveira’s squad for Sunday’s match.

The Corinthians manager made his feelings towards Miguel clear after the game, saying: “No, Carlos Miguel no longer plays for Corinthians. I’ve said it and I’ve said it in this group.

"Only those who want to be here at the club do it passionately, and many of those who are in this position today should realise that many people dream of being able to represent one of the biggest clubs. It bothered me, it bothers me, and Carlos Miguel won’t be playing for Corinthians any more.”

Miguel is said to be training separately from the squad as it stands and is undergoing physiotherapy to deal with his “ankle pain”. Globo Esporte report his Forest medical is due to take place at the start of July.
