Nottingham Forest suffer huge injury blow as update delivered after Liverpool upset
Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sanagre is expected to be out of action for at least two months with a hamstring issue.
The 26-year-old is understood to have undergone surgery today (Saturday) and faces a significant spell on the sidelines. He sustained the injury prior to the international break and the severity of it was picked up in tests when he was back at the club after leaving the Ivory Coast camp.
Sangare had started the Reds' first three Premier League games of the season but was not involved as Nuno Espirito Santo's side claimed a 1-0 win at Liverpool, their first at Anfield since 1969. Defender Willy Boly was also absent from the match squad but his calf problem shouldn't rule him out for too long.
Losing Sangare for an extended period of time comes on the back of fellow midfielder Danilo suffering a broken ankle in the opening game of the campaign. Forest are hopeful the Brazilian will be back in training by December, but it is unlikely he will be out on the pitch before the new year.
"We were without three important players - Boly and the two midfielders, Ibrahim and Danilo. Our two starting midfielders were not here," Nuno said after the victory at Anfield.
"I wish I could have everybody ready. Unfortunately we don't have three players with us. "Danilo, you know about already. Boly, I think will take some time but is going to be soon. Unfortunately, Ibrahim Sangare is going to be a while."
Callum Hudson-Odoi came off the bench to score the only goal of the game on Merseyside. The result extended Forest’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season to four games.
