Nottingham Forest have started the season in fine form, and now the aim is to build on that platform as they look to push on in the Premier League.

The Reds made plenty of pundits sit up and take note as they came away from Liverpool with three points on Saturday. Much of the talk beforehand was about the hosts’ 100 percent record under Arne Slot, but Forest brought an end to that while extending their own unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s wonder strike sealed the Reds’ first win at Anfield since 1969. For a while, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sat fourth in the table before other results saw them drop to seventh.

After successive relegation battles since their return to the top tier, the key for Forest this time around is making progress. They want to avoid another survival scrap and instead be challenging higher up the table.

Saturday’s result only bolsters the sense of belief among the squad. Nuno is getting his ideas across and the business done in the summer transfer window has strengthened his options.

"Maybe a few people were slightly surprised at how we set up, but with results like this everyone just believes even more in what the manager is trying to do,” midfielder Ryan Yates said. “It's all well and good saying we can get results, actually doing it is completely different. To keep a clean-sheet is big. It's so early on in the season but there are good signs.

“We don't expect to win these sorts of games all the time, but we want to grow as a club so we do want to win games like this. I genuinely believe the club is growing on and off the pitch. It's something we shouldn't expect all the time, at the moment, but it shouldn't be a major shock that we've won. Let's not get ahead of ourselves because we know how things change in the Prem - it's ruthless.”
