Nottingham park and ride closes due to 'illegal encampment'
A park and ride just outside of Nottingham is being forced to close due an "illegal encampment", the city council has said. The Racecourse Park and Ride in Colwick will be shut on Thursday, November 14.
In a statement Nottingham City Council apologised for the inconvenience but did not confirm when it would reopen. "The Racecourse Park and Ride at Colwick will be closed tomorrow (Thursday 14) due to an illegal encampment," it posted on X.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience but please use alternative options tomorrow. We shall let you know when we are re-opening."
The park and ride has around 470 spaces and is served by two Nottingham City Transport services - the 44 and 50. The bus operator said these would operate as normal.
"Red 44/A and 50 will operate as normal as they do not enter the site," it said. "Alternative bus Park and Ride is available at Queens Drive, use NG2 1AP in your sat nav."
