Plans have been submitted for a new three-storey block to improve recreational facilities for students in Nottingham. According to the plans, the developer is looking to build the recreational block next to existing student accommodation to “enhance and improve the on-site amenity”.

The accommodation at St Peter’s Court, near the University of Nottingham ’s Jubilee Campus, was built in 2016. Under the plans the building would feature new facilities for socialising and studying, while a nearby car park would be converted into a multi-use sports pitch.

Plans state the car park is “under-utilised”. Up to 150 students would be able to use the building at any one time, planning documents say.

“The study space is located on the ground floor which has soft seating, study booths and a kitchen with bar top seating for group study,” the documents say. They add: "The social space is situated on the first floor, with a generous games table and a screening space with moveable seating.

“The social space is on the second floor, which includes private dining and external amenity space with views over the River Leen."

The site sits off St Peter’s Way, next to a number of residential properties and more student accommodation. A consultation on the plans was due to take place throughout November.

Nottingham City Council will now consider the proposals, which have been submitted by applicant EIP Court Propco 1 S.À R.L.
