A Nottinghamshire chippy was shut for hours after fire crews were called to a shopping centre. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at George's Tradition at West Point Shopping Centre in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, on Wednesday, November 27.

Firefighters were deployed to the scene of the fire after being called at 10.28am and cordoned off the area before extinguishing the small fire. A spokesperson for the fire service said: "The fire was a commercial fire and crew from Highfields attended."

No injuries were caused by the fire, which was out by early afternoon on Wednesday. A staff member at George's Tradition explained the takeaway would be open soon, with preparations being made to reopen at 3pm.

The chippy would usually be open from 11.30pm. The chain has other locations in Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Sutton-in-Ashfield and West Bridgford.
