An idiosyncratic Christmas tree display with a large face and moving mouth has returned to a mall in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, after a 15-year hiatus.
This footage, shot by Cailin O’Neil of novascotiaexplorer.com on November 19, shows Woody the Talking Christmas Tree in Mic Mac Mall.
According to local reports, Woody fell into disrepair and a previous owner of the mall decided to stop displaying it. The mall’s new owner said he would bring Woody back after a 15-year break.
O’Neil told Storyful the Christmas tree “looks a little less scary and more fresh-faced than the older Woody while still looking pretty similar.”
Photographs circulating of the old display show the new Woody has had quite the makeover.
According to local reports, children flocked to the previous display to yell “Wake up, Woody!” and then tell the tree what they wanted for Christmas. Some Canadian Twitter users, however, called the talking tree “literally terrifying” and “an Xmas horror movie origin story.” Credit: Cailin O’Neil/novascotiaexplorer.com via Storyful
