The axe used by Jack Nicholson in some of The Shining’s scariest scenes has been put up for sale. The famous axe is currently listed at Gotta Have Rock and Roll Auctions with a minimum bid of $50,000. The auction house has estimated the axe will go for a fee of between $60,000 and $90,000. The axe prop is displayed in a shadow box frame with photos from the film. It is described as being in “very good, screen used condition” and comes with a letter from NORANK Engineering. It is unclear if this axe is a hard foam copy of the axe used during production or a wooden-handled version. A wooden-handled prop for the movie previously sold for $211,000 back in 2019.
