You can now buy halloumi burgers from Iceland

Sure you’ve tasted halloumi fries , but what about a halloumi burger?

Iceland has launched the ‘first of its kind’ halloumi burger – just in time for summer.

The halloumi patties are coated in crispy breadcrumbs and retail at £2.50 for a pack of two.

If this sounds like all of your cheese dreams have finally come true, halloumi fans can pick up the burgers now at Iceland stores or for a limited time online.

Iceland’s halloumi burgers are the only full-size halloumi burgers available in British supermarkets and weigh in at 90g per burger.

The supermarket says the best way to cook the burger is from frozen on a barbecue but you can also cook in the oven or shallow fry the patty if you want the breadcrumbs to be extra crispy.

While the burger isn’t made solely from halloumi - the ingredients list shows that each burger is made from 46 per cent halloumi and 44 per cent paneer cheese – it will still delight any cheese lovers.

This is just the latest fuel to the UK’s obsession with halloumi – after Tesco recently added halloumi fries to its permanent range .

A spokesperson for Tesco said at the time: "Following the initial release as part of the Tesco Christmas food products, the Tesco Halloumi Fries are now available all year round in store and online. They are priced at £3.00."
