Do you find creating the ultimate summer party playlist stressful? Now you can share the job with your friends – even if they don't have Spotify.

Group Playlists are a new way to create and adjust playlists in the Facebook Messenger app. Spotify already supports collaborative playlists across iPhone, iPad, iPhone, and Android, but this new feature allows users to add or remove songs from outside the Spotify app.

Once a Group Playlist has been created in Spotify – this has to be by someone in your group chat with a Spotify account, obviously – it can now be shared via Facebook Messenger.

From there, the playlist can be edited within the chat using the Spotify Chat Extension (accessible by tapping the blue + next to the composer).

Et voila! Just tap "add song" and you're off.

Notifications appear when songs have been added to the playlist, letting you know when some joker has added The Rasmus to your perfect barbecue soundscape.

The great news is that anyone can edit the playlist as long as they have the Spotify Chat Extension installed; they don't need to be a Spotify subscriber.

Go here to get started with the new feature.

Last month Spotify added QR-style codes to every artist, album, song, and playlist. Scanning these codes using the app's new camera feature immediately directs people to the relevant content.
