Poor Gillian Taylforth has admitted it’s been harder than she expected being back on EastEnders again.
The Kathy Beale actress says she keeps getting lost on set because the show’s massive production has changed so much since she was last a Walford resident between 1985 and 2000.
Speaking on the red carpet at the National Television Awards, she told Yahoo Celebrity: “It was a bit hard first of all, there’s so many new studios I got a bit lost, I still get a bit lost! But it’s lovely being back.”
Kathy has settled comfortably into Walford life again since her comeback last year and Gillian is particularly relishing scenes between her and on-screen son Ian Beale.
“I felt a bit weird at first, but then suddenly it fell into place,” she said of working with Adam Woodyatt after 15 years.
There’ll be a big EastEnders reunion coming up this year as Kathy’s former mother-in-law Peggy Mitchell (Dame Barbara Windsor) and her ex brother-in-law Grant (Ross Kemp), who she slept with while married to Phil, make a return.
Gillian said, “I only found out about that the other day. I’m over the moon to have her and Ross [Kemp] back.”
We can’t wait for that awkward family reunion either, Gillian…
