NTAs 2016: Poldark’s Aidan Turner Doesn’t Feel ‘Objectified’ By Attention

We’ve all seen plenty of Aidan Turner over the last year, from his shirt-shedding scenes in Poldark to And Then There Were None over Christmas.

And his rippling abs have been plastered all over the newspapers and the internet, not letting the 32-year-old star live down his shirtless performances for a single minute.

But does he feel objectified at all by all of the attention he’s received? “Not one bit,” he replied to Yahoo Celebrity and other reporters at the National Television Awards last night.

Aidan picked up the Impact Award at the ceremony, where he also revealed he’s not “taken much notice” of his newfound sex symbol status. (Yeah, OK, we believe you.)

But that hasn’t helped his dating game, however. Asked if he’s had lots more women ask him on dates, the Irish star joked: “It doesn’t happen that often. It’s not what I expected at all!”

The actor’s family, particularly his mum, are pretty proud of the star’s status as national heartthrob.

Asked about his mum’s reaction, he said: “Mum’s great, she’s dead proud, she loves Poldark … she’s proud of her boy.”

Thankfully, Aidan was able to relax a little over Christmas with his diet as he’d already filmed the majority of his shirtless scenes for the second series of Poldark before the festive break.

“I think I’ve finished all the slightly naked scenes I might be doing, I think they might all be done with this series,” he said.
