We all have a number. And nope, I'm not talking about that number. I'm talking about the practice of Numerology. The ancient Hindus believed that every heavenly body is associated with a number, which shares its qualities. Nowadays, Numerology focuses on the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names and ideas.
You can do your own Numerology reading, as it’s simply a case of adding together the letters of your name or numbers from your birthdate (different numerological angles use different calculations). The significance of it for you is the discovery of your innate, born-with-it traits, strengths and potential. Numerology seeks to explore who you are and the best life you could lead. Who doesn’t want that insight? Right?
So, how do you work out your own Numerology?
Firstly, everyone has a number derived from their date of birth.
Simply add together the day, month and year numbers until you get to a single digit. Bingo.
Start with your full birth date. EG: June 31st, 1989.
Get the month, day and year down to a single digit by adding them. EG. for June the number is 6, but for November you would add the 1 + 1 = 2.
Now add the other digits together. EG for June 31st, 1989:
Month = 6.
Day = 3 + 1 = 4.
Year = 1 + 9 + 8 + 9 = 99, 9 + 9 = 18, 1 + 8 = 9.
So your number is 6 + 4 + 9 = 19, 1 + 9 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1.
Your number is 1.
Secondly, everyone has a number derived from their name.
This is the name you are commonly known as, rather than the full ‘Sunday’ version, so typically just the name people call you and your surname. Your name number is thought to be even more revealing than your date of birth (and if the two numbers are the same then this number has a HUGE influence over you and your life).
Each letter of the alphabet is associated with a number, as follows:
A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=8, G=3, H=5, I=1, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, O=7, P=8, Q=1, R=2, S=3, T=4, U=6, V=6, W=6, X=5, Y=1, Z=7
Simply add together your name's numbers until you reach a single digit, as with your birth date.
EG. Kerry Ward:
2 + 5 + 2 + 2 + 6 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 60
6 + 0 = 6
So, what do the numbers from numerology mean?
Ones (The Sun) - positive, determined, ambitious. Dislike restraints and tend to look after ‘number one’. Lucky days- Monday and Sunday. Get on best with Twos, Fours and Sevens.
Twos (The Moon) - imaginative, romantic, habitually take back seat vs lead. Lucky days - Sunday, Monday and Friday. Get on best with Ones and Sevens.
Threes (Jupiter) - trustworthy, conscientious and proud. Lucky days - Thursday, Friday and Tuesday. Get on best with Sixes and Nines.
Fours (Uranus) - born rebels, sensitive, lonely. Lucky days - Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Get on best with Ones.
Fives (Mercury) - quick thinking, highly strung, commercially minded. Lucky days - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Get on best with ANY number.
Sixes (Venus) - artistic, generous, determined. Lucky days - Tuesday, Friday. Get on best with Threes and Nines.
Sevens (Neptune) - restless, independent, innovative. Lucky days - Sunday and Monday. Get on best with Twos.
Eights (Saturn) - intense, lonely, often misunderstood. Lucky days - Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Friday. Don't particularly get on well with any particular number (poor old Eights; mad, bad and dangerous to know!).
Nines (Mars) - impulsive, courageous, quick-tempered. Lucky days - Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Get on best with Threes and Sixes.
