Thousands lined the streets to watch Nuneaton's Carnival 2024 as a procession of colour swept through the town. While the weather was not as hot as last year's event, the sun still shone on the town and it brought people out in their thousands.

This is evident by the fact that just over £4,500 was donated on the day and this money will now be given to the People in Action charity.

In what was a surprise, the 'Around the World'-themed event was started with the roar of motorbikes as members of local biking groups loudly and proudly kicked-off the much anticipated procession in Avenue Road which included almost a dozen floats, walkers and vehicles.

Charlotte Aspley, carnival chair, spoke of her pride at the turn-out and success of the event on Sunday. "What an absolutely fantastic day, it was so wonderful to see so many happy faces in the crowd," she said.

"The Gala Field was absolutely packed with people from start to finish. I am so grateful to all the people that made an effort to be part of carnival this year; whether that was in procession or on the gala field.

"The turnout of all the people lining the streets was superb and the atmosphere spurred us along the route."

She went on to add: "I would especially like to take the time to thank the committee for their dedication and hard work helping me to keep this tradition alive. Thanks so much for coming along and continuing to support us."
