Nuneaton cinema council statement issued over 'leisure box' mystery
Nuneaton town centre's new cinema appears to have disappeared from council plans. It has always been documented as part of the huge Grayson Place regeneration in the Abbey Street area.
But, a council report to update cabinet members about regeneration projects, the cinema is no longer mentioned. Instead it is referred to as a 'leisure box'.
It was back in 2023 when the Really Local Group (RLG) was revealed as the firm who will run the cinema. It was announced as the firm's first major project outside London and the south east.

Then last October, the RLG told CoventryLive that the new cinema was still going ahead despite news that one of its arms went had gone into liquidation. Since that time, winding up statements have been issued for another two Really Local Group cinemas.
Construction work is already well underway for the planned new cinema, and the huge building can be seen rising above the hoardings that surround what was the old Co-op car park.
So CoventryLive asked the council what was happening with the new cinema and why it is now being referred to as the 'leisure box'. A Town Hall spokesperson said: "We are still in talks with the cinema and there will be a joint statement issued by the end of next month."
