A Nuneaton school is preparing to say goodbye to one of its most cherished figures. For an incredible 35 years, Julie Dorans has been a much-loved and respected figure at St Paul's C of E Primary School.

Mrs Dorans first joined as a dinner lady and volunteer in 1989 before taking on a role as teaching assistant in 1997. The Wiclif Way-based school says not only has she been an 'integral' part of the school, she has left an 'indelible mark on the lives of countless pupils'.

"Julie will always be a part of our family,” said Lindsay Eardley, headteacher. "And her legacy will continue in the hearts of the pupils and teachers she has worked with over the years. I would like to thank Julie for her dedication, kindness, patience and humour."

The local mum and grandmother has been a key part of the school's growth and development. In 2003, she undertook Forest School training and subsequently built a dedicated forest area within the school grounds - which has become a firm favourite among the pupils.

Not only that, she has also been driving force behind various events that bring the local community together, showcasing the 'infectious enthusiasm and warm personality' she is famed for both within the school community and much further afield.

Her commitment to the school has extended beyond the classroom, as she has accompanied Year 5 pupils trips to the Lake District,

To celebrate her remarkable 35 years, the school hosted a special assembly at the nearby St Paul’s Church, where a heartfelt song was performed that was written just for her.

"As Julie embarks on a new chapter in her life, the school and the community she has served so faithfully will undoubtedly miss her warmth, her dedication, and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of the pupils," the headteacher added.

"Though she may be retiring, her legacy will continue to inspire and guide the next generation of learners at St. Paul's C of E Primary School."
