NY Cops 'Lucky to Be Alive' After Coming Under Fire in Stairwell

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said two of his officers are “lucky to be alive” after coming under fire in the stairwell of an apartment building in Brooklyn on the night of March 7.

In a press statement, police said four officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting at the building, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

On arrival, the officers engaged with the suspect. The suspect, who is seen standing at an apartment door in video released by police, then opened fire. One officer was shot in his armored vest, Shea said, and a second officer was grazed by a bullet.
