NYPD Line Street as Remains of Officer Wilbert Mora Brought to Bronx Funeral Home

New York police officers lined the street as the remains of Wilbert Mora, fatally shot in the line of duty, were transported to a Bronx funeral home on January 26.

Officers Wilbert Mora, 27, and Jason Rivera, 22, were both shot on January 21 while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Harlem. Rivera died that day, and Mora on January 25.

New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said the men were trying to provide aid to a man, who then opened fire on them “suddenly and without warning.”

In a media address, Sewell said: “I am struggling to find the words to express the tragedy that we are enduring. We are mourning and we are angry.” Credit: NYPD via Storyful
