Oakland Disappears in Orange Haze as Wildfire Smoke Envelops Bay Area

Oakland, California, was blanketed in thick, orange smoke on Wednesday, September 9, caused by record-breaking wildfires burning across the West Coast.

According to reports, more than 2 million acres had been scorched by wildfires in California, with the Bear and Creek wildfires burning east of the Bay Area.

The wildfires also caused ash to fall from the sky, blanketing properties and vehicles. This footage, taken via a drone above Oakland, shows the smoke haze in a range of orange hues. Credit: Kent Kessinger via Storyful
