Police and protesters clashed in Oakland late on August 29 after officers declared an unlawful assembly and reported demonstrators throwing objects and using laser pointers and shields.
One officer was injured, police said.
The confrontations came at the end of third night of protests sparked by the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin the previous week. Blake was left paralyzed from the waist down.
According to local reports, six people were arrested and at least one police officer was injured during the confrontation.
Oakland had seen largely peaceful protests during the week marred by vandalism caused by “groups splintered off from the main demonstration,” CBS SF Bay Area reported.
