Oasis confirm support act for 2025 tour as 90s legend signed up for stadium gigs

After a lot of speculation and a big hint from Liam Gallagher himself, it has been confirmed that Verve legend Richard Ashcroft will be Oasis' support act for their mammoth UK tour next year.

Sites like Ticketmaster and Seetickets went into meltdown at the end of August when, days after the Oasis reunion was announced, tickets went on sale for the string of dates, which will kick off at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in early July, before taking the Britpop icons to the likes of Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Many fans were left disappointed as upwards of four million people tried for an estimated 1.4 million tickets, with extra dates then added at Wembley for the end of September, as Oasis then delighted their legions of fans overseas with concert announcements for the likes of America and Australia as well.

As soon as Oasis officially confirmed their reunion was happening, the internet was full of speculation on who might be chosen to support them, with bands like Blossoms, Kasabian and The Courteeners all thought to be in contention. Replying to a fan of X last week, Liam claimed it was going to be Richard Ashcroft and Cast who opened for them and now, one half of that is definitely correct as Verve frontman Richard was revealed as support act on Monday.

Giving a statement on getting the gig, an excited Richard, the voice of 90s classics like Bittersweet Symphony and The Drugs Don't Work, commented: "As a fan from day one I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’s return was announced. I can say with no exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam’s pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work. It was the perfection of Live Forever that forced me to try and write my own"

He added: They dared to be great, made the dreams we had real and I will always remember those days with joy. Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power."
