The Safdie Brothers and Adam Sandler were, incredibly, totally ignored by the Oscars for their basketball-and-bum-tattoos thriller Uncut Gems, but they've not let that get them down. In fact, they've just knocked out another five-minute short together.

In Goldman V Silverman – they're still obsessed with high value minerals, clearly – Sandler is a cantankerous and quite rubbish street performer, 'Goldman'. He's painted gold, obviously, and pretends to be a robot. But that also happens to be the act of 'Silverman', played by Benny Safdie, who turns up and starts taking the piss out of him. As you can imagine, Goldman doesn't like that at all.

Is it a high-octane thrill ride which ratchets up the tension at every available opportunity while also making you consider the vast and unknowable power of the cosmos? No. But it is quite funny and quite sad, and is comfortably Sandler's second best performance since Punch Drunk Love.
