Octopus urges customers to act now for £420 off their energy bill
Octopus says energy customers can save £420 on their energy bill thanks to a new deal. Sunsave, Octopus' partner, has explained 7,000 households have joined 'Sunsave Plus' waiting list in just over nine months - and are cutting bills.
The service allows households to pay for new solar panels through a monthly payment plan similar to a Netflix subscription or phone contract. Offering fixed monthly payments from £69 with zero upfront costs for installation, the offer promises to protect homeowners from future energy price shocks.
As part of the deal, Sunsave customers will also benefit from export tariffs, such as the Intelligent Octopus Flux from energy giant Octopus Energy. Sunsave claims a family living in a typical four-bedroom home could save 1.63 tonnes of CO2 and £420 in the first year after having a solar array installed.

"Our aim has always been to make solar power accessible to everyone," said Alick Dru, co-founder at Sunsave. "For far too long households have been forced to make a choice between what's right for the environment or what's best for their finances.
"We've spent years researching the appetite in the UK for solar power and trialling finance models which will allow consumers to start saving money instantly. It's simple - going green shouldn't cost the earth."
On its website, Octopus says: "To switch to Intelligent Octopus Flux, you'll need to download the Octopus Energy app. Once you have connected your battery in the app, we will switch your import and export tariffs at the same time.
"If you're not already on an Octopus export tariff, you'll need to sign up to either Octopus Outgoing or Octopus Flux. Once your export is set up, you can switch to Intelligent Octopus Flux in the app." It adds: "You need solar panels and a GivEnergy battery to be eligible for Intelligent Octopus Flux.
"We've partnered with Sunsave, who are on a mission to make the power of solar accessible to all UK households, with the UK's first solar subscription. See how much you could save with the Sunsave Plus solar subs, including a GivEnergy battery and inverter."
