Attention has now turned to who will replace Steven Naismith after he was axed as Hearts gaffer following a dismal start to the 2024/25 season.

Naismith managed to surprise many with a strong start last campaign but his side soon lost their form as they struggled to secure positive results.

The dip in performance sadly continued into the new season with Naismith feeling the pressure from both the fans and board.

He was relieved of his duties on Sunday September 22 after Hearts succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to St Mirren on Saturday 21.

Several managers will be looking to throw their hat in the ring with the Jambo's in a relatively healthy position off the field.

According to Gambling.com, Alex Neil is tipped by bookmakers as the favourite to land the gig as he tops the list of hopefuls at 2/1.

Neil has experience both in Scotland and down south with him having several successful spells throughout his career.

In close second is Stephen Robinson at 9/4 who has impressed many during his time with St Mirren.

Robinson's side were the one's to put the final nail in Naismith's coffin and it would be no surprise to see Hearts entice the young manager to the capital.

An outside of the box option is Arnar Gunnlaugsson who is the current manager of Icelandic side Víkingur.

Bookies have the inexperienced gaffer at 3/1 for the job and many fans may see this option as a risky pick due to his inexperience outside of his native country.

Derek McInnes, often a favourite to replace Scottish managers with the bookies also makes the list as he has carried out his role at Kilmarnock well on a limited budget.

McInnes has had success in the top division with Aberdeen and would be an experienced pair of hands with the bookies pricing him at 7/2.

Two familiar faces are also contending as favourites to take over the top job at Hearts with John McGlyn at 4/1, who has turned Falkirk's fortunes around, tipped for the gig.

Bizarrely Craig Levein also makes the list at 10/1 however fans may not be on board with hiring of the former St Johnstone gaffer manager who was sacked himself a couple of days ago.
