PlayStation has announced the free PS Plus games that will be available from 6 April, and zombie-fest Days Gone is already trending online as people rush to get their hands on it.
However, the biggest title is Oddworld: Soulstorm, available only for PlayStation 5 (PS5) owners.
It’s the brand new game in the Oddworld series that began way back on the original PlayStation. Once again it sees the iconic alien Abe saving his fellow Mudokons by solving puzzles in hostile industrial environments.
The game was shown at Sony’s latest State of Play event, where creative director Lorne Lanning discussed its 2.9D platforming that adds “depth and immersion for the player”. That’s along with the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback where you can feel Abe’s heartbeat in tense situations.
Never has an Oddworld game looked so good!
As mentioned above, also available on PS4 will be Days Gone from Sony Bend Studio. Set during a zombie outbreak in the Pacific Northwest, bounty hunter and motorcyclist Deacon St.John must defeat swarms of feral Freakers.
Of course, the game is already available for free for PlayStation 5 owners as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection of PS4 games – also including God of War, Monster Hunter World, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Bloodborne.
Lastly, for more zombies, PS4 game Zombie Army 4: Dead War will be available for free. It’s a co-op shooter from the makers of Sniper Elite 4 set in 1940s Europe where Hitler’s hordes are – you guessed it – zombies.
These new games mean the current free PS Plus games for March will be leaving the service very soon, so get in quick. They are Final Fantasy VII Remake, Maquette and Remnant From The Ashes.
Remember if you download Final Fantasy VII Remake as a free game, you won’t be eligible for the free Integrade PlayStation 5 upgrade due out in June that includes the new Yuffie episode.
These PS Plus titles are in addition to the games added to Sony’s Play At Home scheme.
