The comedian appeared on The One Show on November 4 alongside Rod Stewart, where he said: “I tried to write the shortest joke possible. So, I wrote a two-word joke which was: ‘Dwarf shortage’.
“It’s just so I could pack more jokes into the show.”
He then added: “If you’re a dwarf and you’re offended by that, grow up.”
Rod Stewart did not look impressed with the joke.
Ofcom are now investigating whether ‘offensive’ language was used in the programme, with a spokesman telling the MailOnline: “We’re investigating whether potentially discriminatory comments in this programme met generally accepted standards.”

The BBC declined to comment, while Jimmy’s reps could not be reached.
The comedian was appearing on the show to promote his 2016 tour ‘The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour, which starts in Peterborough in May.
Before Jimmy made the gag, he had joked with presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker, saying: “Don’t play my stuff on your show. Ofcom will get involved.”
He also admitted his stand-up has got ‘ruder’ over the years.
