Officer Shot During Bronx Stop Applauded as He Leaves Hospital

A New York Police Department officer was released from the hospital on January 28 after being shot Tuesday night during a stop in the Bronx.

Footage shared by Terence Monahan, NYPD Chief of Department, shows a crowd applauding as officer Daniel Vargas, 31, leaves Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx.

Vargas was shot in the back during a stop in the Bronx on January 26, according to reports.
