A police officer and firefighters in Edmond, Oklahoma, were lauded on Friday, August 28, after rescuing a man the previous evening who was trapped underwater after the riding lawnmower he was driving tipped over into a pond.
After a resident placed a 911 call, Edmond Police Officer Chase Thackerson arrived on the scene, waded into the water, and found the man stuck under the mower with his head only about two inches above the water, police said. Thackerson then stayed with the man to help him keep his head above the water until firefighters arrived.
The firemen lifted the vehicle to free the man, as seen in this footage shared by the Edmond Police Department.
Responders then helped the man to his feet. Police told Storyful the man only sustained minor injuries, and was taken to a local hospital for a medical examination. Credit: Edmond Police Department via Storyful
