Olivia Colman says people can ‘sod off’ if they think they’re ‘going to see the actual Queen’ in The Crown

The Crown star Olivia Colman has said people can “sod off” if they think they’re going to see “the actual Queen” in the forthcoming new series of the hit Netflix show.

Colman, who takes over from Claire Foy to play Queen Elizabeth II in the third season, told The Sunday Times: “If people think they’re going to see the actual Queen, they can sod off. It’s a drama.”

The actor also revealed her husband Ed Sinclair took a souvenir home with him after they attended a charity event at Buckingham Palace.

She said: “My husband stole some loo roll just to say we got it from Buckingham Palace. If we can get away with that, we can get away with this programme.”

Tobias Menzies also joins the cast of The Crown’s third series as Prince Philip, as well as Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

The Crown season three will stream on Netflix from 17 November 2019. See everything we know so far about the series here.
