Olivia Newton-John's missing ex-boyfriend 'found alive and well in Mexico' 12 years after disappearance
Olivia Newton-John’s former boyfriend has reportedly been found “alive and well”, 12 years after he disappeared on a fishing trip off the coast of California.
The actress dated Patrick McDermott on and off between 1995 and his 2005 disappearance, with the American cameraman being declared dead in 2008.
Patrick was on board a boat named ‘Freedom’ with 22 other passengers when he disappeared, and nobody recalled seeing him fall overboard at the time.
The United State Coast Guard concluded that Patrick “most likely drowned” after he went missing on 30 June 2005, but in 2010 speculation grew that Patrick had faked his own death and was living in Mexico.
Now an Australian magazine, New Idea, has claimed that Patrick is “alive and well” in Mexico after they received a photo from US media agency Coleman-Rayner, showing a man that matches Patrick’s description with a female companion.
Private investigator Charlie Parker told the mag: “The widow’s peak is exact. The eyes are very similar and the ears extend down on the head the same distance. I believe it is him”
Parker concluded that the man in the photo is a “90% match” to Patrick.
Olivia was left devastated when Patrick disappeared, with the star previously admitting that she often thinks about him.
In September, Olivia told Australian TV series ’60 Minutes’: “It’s human to wonder.
“Those are the things in life you have to accept and let go because whenever you go through difficult times there are always those concerns but… I live on.”
