Olivia Rodrigo Shines Bright in Second-Skin Silver Gown at the 2023 VMAs
The singer's red carpet look at the MTV VMAs definitely took some 'guts'
Olivia Rodrigo's glittering VMAs gown could be seen from outer space.
The "Vampire" singer arrived at the 2023 MTV VMAs in a high-shine, floor-length silver gown that sparkled from all angles. She teamed the body-skimming design with matching Roger Vivier platforms and soft glam to let the dress do all the talking. Rodrigo, 20, returns to the awards show following the recent release of her sophomore album, Guts.
Rodrigo has amped up her style during this album cycle, and tonight's look is no different. Her liquid silver dress was covered in crystals. The show-stopping gown dipped low in the back and featured a dramatic slit as well. She wore her hair pin straight and parted down the middle, choosing to keep her glam completely understated. Her only accessories? A couple rings that spell out "GUTS" in honor of her record.

Rodrigo is up for a handful of awards at this year's ceremony. She's nominated for video of the year for "Vampire,” song of the year for "Vampire,” best pop song for "Vampire,” best direction cinematography for "Vampire” and best editing for "for "Vampire.”
She's previously bagged three wins at the VMAs. In addition to scoring five nominations, the singer will once again return to the stage after her 2021 VMA performance of hit “Good 4 u.”
Rodrigo dropped the first single for her second album Guts in June. For “Vampire,” Rodrigo reunited with producer Daniel Nigro, who worked with the 20-year-old songstress on her debut album, Sour.

Following the release of "Vampire,” fans began speculating that the song could either be about the singer’s ex Adam Faze, or the ongoing speculation about Rodrigo’s relationship with Taylor Swift, after the Guts singer stopped publicly expressing her admiration for the “Fearless” singer, 33.
Since the June debut, a source exclusively told PEOPLE, “Vampire” isn’t about Rodrigo’s relationship with Faze, 26.
Additionally, ahead of the full Guts release, Rodrigo clarified the song wasn't about Swift either. She revealed in an interview with The Guardian that she was “very surprised when people thought that.” She continued, “I never want to say who any of my songs are about. I’ve never done that before in my career and probably won’t.” Rodrigo added, “I think it’s better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing.”
The 2023 VMAs are airing live Tuesday night from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
