Ollie Watkins admits he still doesn't feel 100 per cent - and despite scoring his first two goals of the season in Aston Villa's 3-2 win over Everton, the England striker was disappointed not to bag himself a hat-trick.

Watkins ended his eight-match run without a goal by scoring either side of half-time to level the game up at Villa Park and also show top-flight rivals that he is quickly getting back to his best form. Everton went into a two-goal lead inside 27 minutes before falling to their fourth defeat of the campaign.

Jhon Duran stole the headlines after coming off the bench and thumping in a stunning goal to complete Villa's comeback in the 76th minute. It was the Colombian's third goal of the season, with only Man City's Erling Haaland bagging more at the start of this season.

"It takes a moment of magic like that, and Jhon has come up with it," Watkins told Sky Sports. "Everyone knows what he can do, and when he’s got the opportunity he shows it. It’s one of the best [goals] we’ve seen."

"There’s such a quick turnaround from the Euros. A lot of the boys are getting back up to fitness. I still don’t feel 100%. I’m disappointed I didn’t get the hat-trick – I should be coming off with the match ball – but I’ll settle for the two.

“I’m not at 100 per cent. I took some time off during the international break. I don’t want to miss too many matches, though.

“We were obviously unlucky against Arsenal. We’re delighted we got [the win] today. Now we focus on the Champions League, which everyone is looking forward to.”
