Olly Murs has revealed he hasn’t spoken to Simon Cowell since he took up his role on The Voice UK.

The Heart Skips A Beat singer, who found fame after auditioning on The X Factor in 2009, replaced Gavin Rossdale for the most recent series of the singing competition.

During a chat with Good Morning Britain, Murs revealed that he hasn’t spoken to media mogul Cowell - although he was quick to quash rumours surrounding any fallout.

He told presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, as well as showbiz reporter Richard Arnold: “That's all paper talk.

“I mean, I haven't heard from Simon, I haven't spoken to him but listen, I'm sure we're great. I hope so anyway…

"I think what people misinterpret is, when I came off X Factor I wasn't still part of The X Factor. I went and had my own music career and Simon was never involved in that, really.”

The 33-year-old conceded that Cowell had been a part of his career at the beginning and that the show that made him into a household name was still a “massive part of his life”.

He continued: “Listen, The X Factor is The X Factor. It's been a massive part of my life and I still love it.

“And I won't stop watching it but The Voice pay my wages now.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
