Olympic Games: The best and worst logos over the years

The Tokyo 2020 organisers had to scrap the original logo over accusations of plagiarism.

The new logo - which was needed after dispute over the original logo erupted soon after it was unveiled - adopts a traditional indigo-blue checkered pattern called “ichimatsu moyo” that dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868).

It’s not the first time the Olympic logo has found itself mired in controversy.

And while some Olympic logos have been savaged by critics over the years, while others are widely celebrated and remembered for years after the Games.
