One Direction: 9 Things We Learned At Apple Music Festival

In case you missed our entire STREAM of tweets on Tuesday night (erm, sorry about that), we were lucky enough to pop along to Apple Music Festival to watch One Direction, supported by Little Mix, perform LIVE.

We mean, there were so many babes in one building we could hardly contain ourselves.

1D performed in Camden’s Roundhouse Theatre, which has a capacity of just 1,700 people, and the intimate venue meant that we were able to get up, close, and personal to the boys as they performed their socks off for our viewing pleasure.

We mean, it must have made a change from their sold-out stadium concerts, right?!

Anyways, throughout the course of the night we actually learned a few things about One Direction - and on top of them being JUST AS RUDDY GORGEOUS AS YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE, this is what we discovered:

1. They Have So Many Famous Fans

Okay, so we all know that the four boys have more celeb pals between them than most, but did you realise just how many of those pals were actual legit fans?

From our location in the venue, we spotted none other than YouTubers Alfie Deyes and Louise Pentland, also in attendance were Olly Murs, Selena Gomez, and Suki Waterhouse.

Not too shabby, eh?

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Celeb UK after the show, Alfie told us: “It was amazing, Harry’s stage presence is unbelievable.”

Couldn’t agree more, love.

2. Little Mix Also Love Them

After wowing us all with their amazing supporting set (which included an exclusive performance of their track ‘Grown’), Little Mix shared a video of themselves rocking out to the boys backstage.

Good to know they’re both literally supportive and musically supportive, eh?

3. Harry Styles WILL Find Kids

In case you had any doubt about broody Harry’s ability to find all children within a twenty mile radius, we can confirm that this is definitely a gift of his.

Constantly taking out the time to look around at the crowd, Harry almost immediately located a group of really little kids up on the balcony and promptly waved and blew them a kiss.

Is it wrong that we are a bit jel?

4. Louis Tomlinson IS SO PROUD OF NO CONTROL

Remember a little while back when you amazing fans organised the No Control Project to get the track ridden with Louis’ solos/ written by him and Liam Payne, to number one?

Because the boys most certainly do, and while Liam and Louis both took the time to thank fans from the bottom of their hearts for carrying out this project, throughout the song we could see that Lou was practically bursting with pride.

The smile on his face didn’t falter for a second and you could honestly see just how much this moment meant to him, so well done once again guys, he can totally feel the love.

5. Niall Horan Is A FIGHTER

Mid-way through the set, poor Niall had to dash off in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it exit that concerned his bandmates.

Although they all continued with the song, the moment it was finished they couldn’t resist quipping: “We’ve lost another one!” as they looked around to try and find where the Irish babe had got to.

When he returned to the stage, Nialler explained that things got a little bit hot for him and kind of implied that he might just have puked backstage and there’s no guarantee that he wouldn’t puke again.

WE’D TAKE THE RAIN, BABE.

Ahem… Moving on, despite feeling queasy, Niall carried on with the set like an absolute trooper.

Love ya.

6. Louis Keeps An Eye

Despite fighting on like the soldier he is, 23-year-old Louis did keep an eye on his bandmate for the rest of the night, with the concerned singer watching Niall like a hawk when he bent down to tie up his shoelace.

He’s perfectly capable, Lou - relax.

image

While the cameras were on Harry and Liam, who were dutifully singing, we spotted Louis rush to check Niall when he bent over, watch him like a worried parent while he tied up his shoe, and mime the ‘phew’ sign to the crowd when Niall got back up.

TOO BLOOMIN’ CUTE FOR WORDS.

7. Liam Payne’s High Notes Are Like WOW

When Zayn Malik sensationally quit the band back in March, we were all left screeching one thing: “WHAT ABOUT THE HIGH NOTES?!”

image

However, seeing the boys live at their first proper London show since his departure, we can confirm that all of the boys do a brill job covering for their departed bandmate, with Liam’s high notes bringing a tear to our eye.

What? We’re just proud and have a lot of feelings.

8. If It’s Your Birthday, GET TO THE FRONT

Wow. So imagine it’s your birthday and you’re seeing One Direction, that’s a pretty fab way to celebrate, right?

Now, imagine it’s your birthday, you’re seeing One Direction, you get to the front of the stage, and Harry Styles notices your banner.

Then, probably while you burst into sobs of ugly tears, Harry goes on to sing Happy Birthday to you in front of the whole crowd?

image

Well, for a lucky fan called Chloe, she doesn’t need to imagine. It happened, we’re jel, good on her.

Happy birthday Chlo - good luck to the friends and family who have to top THAT gift in future years.

9. They Are Perfectly Fine Without Zayn

We have to admit, when Zayn quit earlier this year we did go into a mild state of panic. It wasn’t that we didn’t have faith in the remaining foursome, we were more worried that it might dampen their spirit.

image

Thankfully, no doubt following the heaps of fan love they have received, we can confirm that the boys looked happier than ever, with them even being in a position to joke about him quitting when Niall wandered offstage, retorting that they can be the new Take That.

All four members had energy, looked truly excited to be seeing fans in such an intimate capacity, and were ruddy happy to be there.

image

Which certainly makes a refreshing change from all those rumours that claim that they are heading for a split following their 2016 break because they’re fed up with eachother, doesn’t it?

Good to have you back in London, guys - we’re so happy that we were there to celebrate your grand return with you.
