One Direction Bring Back Rainbow Bondage Bear At Manchester Concert - And He’s Next To Another Closeted Star

On the first night of One Direction’s London shows for their On The Road Again tour, we almost had a heart attack when their show mascots, Rainbow Bondage Bear and his tiny bear friend, were dressed as a bride and groom next to a framed photo of closeted TV personality, Larry Grayson.

It just seemed a bit too much of a nod towards ‘Larry Stylinson’, the fandom’s belief that Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are embroiled in a secret romantic relationship; especially as it had been hugely speculated that the two boys were the ones behind dressing the bears each night.

Needless to say, the bears quickly disappeared, not to be seen at any of the other 1D London dates, boo, hiss etc. etc… But before we go any further, let’s recap.

The bears have been making sporadic appearances at One Direction’s concerts across the globe for over a year, nobody knows for sure who dresses them or puts them out each night but with 1D’s drummer, Josh Devine, posing for pictures with them we know that it is definitely a member of the boys’ crew, if not the boys themselves.

In fact, the way that the bears’ props and stickers appear to relate to what is going on with the band has left the fandom basically convinced that the One Direction lads use them to drop hints about what is going on behind the scenes, but there is more on that here.

Back to the matter at hand.

After being gone for over a week, the stuffed toys made their triumphant return when the boys hit the stage in Manchester on Saturday night, this time sitting in what looked like a tank and sporting army gear, with fans interpreting it to mean that the boys were “going to war”.

However, it was last night’s look that really got the fandom talking, with RBB being sat behind yet another picture of a famously closeted British celebrity, John Inman, and reading a Claire Richards (yes, from Steps) book.

THE PLOT THICKENS.

On the bear’s feet there were also stickers in Harry Styles’ and Louis Tomlinson’s mic colours (green and blue), with the green being a smiley face and the blue a winking face.

Although we can say with total certainty that at least part of the relevance of last night’s props include the fact that John Inman released the famous ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic Song’, we aren’t entirely sure on the relevance of Claire yet…. Unless the boys are hinting that One Direction really are going to split in the same vein as Steps, but we’re really not ready to think about that yet.

It is also interesting that John was famously prevented from coming out as gay, similarly to Larry Grayson who graced the photo frame on the first date of the London shows, with the Daily Mail recently running an article specifically about these two men and how their role in the BBC prevented them from coming out - with Beeb bosses claiming that they were “just waiting for the right woman”.

Yes, we are stroking our imaginary beards in wonder here.

It is probably also worth noting that fans spotted a rainbow heart sticker on the band’s water box last night too, which we can totally get on board with.

To be honest, it looks as though we won’t be finding out the truth about RBB and his little bear friend any time soon, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be looking forward to whatever they do next in the meantime…
