One hospitalised in Clyde Tunnel crash as motorists told to avoid busy Glasgow route
One person has been hospitalised after a horror crash at the Clyde Tunnel this afternoon (January 14).
Police closed the A739 Balshagray Avenue at the Clyde Tunnel while emergency services worked at the scene of a crash described by officers as 'serious'. Paramedics took one casualty to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Govan following the crash at around 1.50pm.
The Scottish Ambulance Service scrambled multiple resources to the scene, including ambulances, a trauma team and special operations response teams. Police also closed Victoria Park Drive northbound while motorists were advised to take other routes over the Clyde.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 13.53 to attend a road traffic collision in the area of the Clyde Tunnel, Glasgow. Multiple resources were dispatched to the scene including ambulances, a trauma team and special operations response teams (SORT). One patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
Earlier today, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Balshagray Avenue at Victoria Park Gardens South is closed, along with Victoria Park Drive northbound from the Clyde Tunnel as emergency services deal with a serious crash involving two vehicles.
"Police were contacted around 1.50pm today and officers remain at the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternatives routes."
