One in five hate attacks is now ‘done in the name of Trump’

Gay hate attackers are now threatening victims by saying they live in ‘Trump America’ – and researchers believe one in five attacks is now ‘done in Trump’s name’.

Victims have described being assaulted by attackers wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ hats – and being told “You live in Trump country now’ by gay bashers, according to Broadly.

Speaking to Broadly, Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) says that they have recorded 1400 crimes since the election.

Beirich said ‘From our perspective it certainly looks like there have been more hate crimes since the election.

‘About a fifth of the attacks we’ve collected were done in Trump’s name.’

Trump’s team has vigorously denied allegations that the attacks are linked to ‘anti-LGBT’ policies – such as withdrawing federal protections for transgender students.

Sean Spicer said, ‘I think one of the points that we’ve made in previous statements is that this is not the way that we as Americans solve our differences.

‘I don’t believe there is any connection -I think that would be a stretch, to say the least.’
