She said: "It's pretty common (and delicious) to cook scrambled eggs in butter, but olive oil works nicely, too. If you want to give it a try, stick to lighter, fruiter olive oils."
Olive oil not only has a higher smoke point than butter, allowing for cooking at higher temperatures without burning, but it also enhances the texture of the eggs. According to Joanne, using olive oil results in a creamier consistency, giving your scrambled eggs a silkier and smoother finish, reports the Express.
Here's how to make perfect scrambled eggs with olive oil:.
Ingredients:
Eggs
Salt
Olive oil
Method:
Start by cracking the eggs into a bowl, seasoning with a pinch of salt, and whisking well. Let the mixture sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
Joanne explains this step, she said: "As the eggs sit with the salt, the salt works on some of the proteins in the eggs, making our scrambled eggs more tender."
Then, heat the olive oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Pour in the eggs and stir continuously in a small circular motion.
Keep stirring until the eggs thicken and form small curds, which should take about 30 seconds.
Once the eggs start to solidify, stir them in longer sweeping motions across the pan until they begin to form larger curds. This should take approximately 20 seconds.
When the eggs have set but are still moist and slightly runny, take the frying pan off the heat. Let the eggs sit in the frying pan for a few seconds as they will continue to cook.
Give the scrambled eggs one final stir, season with salt and pepper or any herbs you prefer, and then your tasty breakfast is ready to serve.
