Although we didn't quite manage to make it through an episode without someone serving up poached pears, one contestant did actually cook crocodile (!) for the judges. Exotic or what?
And that daring hopeful was Lyndsay, who alongside Twitter-favourite Adam and Giovanna, made it through to Friday's quarter-final. We can only imagine what she'll cook up next.
Aside from Lyndsay's controversial choice of meat, viewers were absolutely in love with another choice of hers – her seriously cute cutlery earrings.
I'm liking Lindsay on #Masterchef. Like her attitude. And her earrings.- Steve Clough (@SchrodiesCat) April 13, 2017
"You've got cutlery earrings," says greengrocer, who then feels need to explain to the wearer they're knife and fork earrings. #masterchef- Andrew Stevenson (@the_a_stevenson) April 13, 2017
But soon after the love for Lyndsay's jewellery came the disdain, confusion and inevitable witticisms about her dish of a ballotine of crocodile.
If we hear one more 'make it snappy' joke...
Crocodile! Bloody crocodile! Wrong on so many levels. Wrong 'un. #MasterChefUK- Kitty A (@Zodifly) April 13, 2017
Try giving me a ballotine of crocodile and I will nut you. #MasterChef- Lorelei King🇪🇺 (@LoreleiKing) April 13, 2017
She's making crocodile, I hope she makes it snappy #MasterChefUK- GayTonyinBrighton (@btn_hungdaddy) April 13, 2017
#MasterChefUK Should follow the crocodile with Dundee cake.- TJCainDentalCeramics (@cain_terry) April 13, 2017
Something that viewers were pleased with was Adam's success in making it through to the next round after he cooked up the traditional Yorkshire pud of Parkin.
Oh, and he also managed to crack that whole three plate thing. Watch out, Alison, you've got competition.
Well done Adam you've made Leeds and Yorkshire proud! #MasterChefUK- kenny bear (@kennykoalabear) April 13, 2017
For me Adam's two courses are the best. Can't beat a good stodgy pud. #MasterChefUK- Tracey (@Tracey54595622) April 13, 2017
1st ep of #MasterChefUK down, definitely declaring Adam as my early favourite!- Charlotte Johnson (@lottie_johnson) April 13, 2017
Oh he's only gone and pulled off carrying three plates! Well in Adam! #MasterChefUK- Shelley Amos (@ShhhElley) April 13, 2017
Adam should immediately go through to the final because he can carry three plates at once. #Masterchef- Joseph Burns (@retlivdead) April 13, 2017
