The Great British Bake Off may have pitched its tent up over at Channel 4 now, but we've still got MasterChef to keep the BBC food-based reality TV competition wheel rolling.
Tonight's episode is just as you'd expect: a group of hopefuls (whose names we keep forgetting) think this will be a doddle because they've seen every episode before crumbling under the time constraints and being left speechless by Gregg Wallace and John Torode's no-holds-barred criticism.
Following the first round, Gregg and John eliminated (checks notes) Alex, Hayley and Sam. The remaining contestants were then set the task of making panacotta for three returning MasterChef winners: Mat Follas, Peter Bayliss and James Nathan.
After some typically tense cooking set to classical music, Lorna and Fumbi really stood out and easily made the quarter finals. Natalie was third through while Linda and the adorably nervous Kenny were sent home.
So what stood out to people on Twitter from episode one? Well, a lot of you seemed confused by 'pretentious' Sam serving up 'tomato water', Kenny was #dadgoals while Fumbi has been officially declared 'the hot one'. Here is a round-up of some of the best:
I kind of feel like Alex is on this show every year or does he just have one of those faces? #masterchef- Ariadne Griffin (@Ariadne_Griffin) April 19, 2017
