Dr Michael Mosley will reveal his final health tips to the nation in his last-ever TV appearance on the BBC tonight. The much-loved TV doctor, who is credited with transforming the lives of millions through his health and diet tips, will appear in the final episode of his two-part special Just One Thing, airing at 8:30pm on BBC One today (October 21).

Before his tragic death, Mosley found fame by transforming the health of people around the nation with his simple tips to encourage a healthier lifestyle. Among these tips was the now-famous 5:2 diet, based on a principle known as intermittent fasting.

The health guru was also a proponent of many other, more obscure habits, including turning the heating down in his home - an arrangement he admits his wife was less than keen on. Dr. Michael Mosley died while on holiday with his wife on the small Greek island of Symi last June, prompting an outpouring of grief across the nation.

Michael Mosley was an advocate of small actions people could take to transform their lives - easy steps that fit into a normal day. One area of health research that fascinated Mosley was how cold temperatures could improve health and wellbeing.

Mosley revealed that he liked to turn the heating down at home - an arrangement his wife was not happy with. He discovered that turning the thermostat down by just a few degrees could improve fat and blood sugar metabolism, boost mood, and even protect against type 2 diabetes.

In the first episode of Michael Mosley - Just One Thing, he also shared the benefits of taking a cold shower in the morning. He suggested starting by enduring the blast of cold water for 10 seconds at first, gradually increasing it to 30 seconds as part of a regular routine.

He explained that the habit could help people with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, while also alleviating symptoms of depression and chronic inflammation. The BBC special, airing today, will celebrate the life and legacy of the late science broadcaster and program maker.

Lindsay Bradbury, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime, said: "We are honoured to carry forward Michael’s remarkable legacy by presenting on-screen the practical health and wellbeing advice that became his hallmark. It is a true reflection of Michael’s character—a kind and compassionate man who dedicated his life to helping others discover ways to become the best version of themselves.

"In doing so, he continues to captivate and inspire wider audiences by making the process of learning fun, enjoyable, and accessible to all."

Michael Mosley - Just One Thing will air on BBC One tonight at 8.30pm. The first episode of the series aired on Monday, October 14, and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
