‘One of Netflix’s most anticipated shows ever’ based on sporting legend just dropped its first trailer
Netflix has just released the first trailer for one of its most anticipated shows of the year, based on the life of a true sporting legend.
The limited series Senna will be released at the end of November and lift the lid on one of Formula 1’s most beloved drivers.
Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna was at the top of his game when he tragically died following a fatal crash in 1994. He was just 34 years old.
A synopsis for the eagerly awaited streaming event reads: “Over six episodes, the miniseries dramatizes for the first time Ayrton Senna's journey through triumphs, disappointments, joys, and sorrows, revealing his personality and personal relationships.
“The story starts at the beginning of the three-time Formula 1 champion's motor racing career, following him from his karting days, through his move to England to compete in Formula Ford, and continues up to the tragic accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix.”

Gabriel Leone leads the series as the iconic driver, supported by a wide range of Brazilian talent, including Alice Wegmann, Camila Márdila, Christian Malheiros and Gabriel Louchard.
English actress Kaya Scodelario also joins the cast as a fictional journalist named Laura and Matt Mella portrays Senna’s F1 rival Alain Prost.
Time Magazine recently included the series in its most anticipated new shows of Fall 2024.
They wrote: “The show was made in partnership with Senna’s family, who’ve promised there will be elements of his story that have never been heard before.
“Senna is played by Gabriel Leone, who is something of an old hand when it comes to playing Formula 1 drivers—he was last seen as Spanish driver Alfonso de Portago in Michael Mann’s Ferrari.”
It also made Screen Rant’s list, just below upcoming blockbuster shows like Dune: Prophecy and Landman.
Fans were eagerly anticipating the ride when the trailer was released on YouTube, with scores of comments pouring in just minutes after it dropped.
“This looks so promising, especially with the visuals, race tracks, the Brazilian fans and the background music!!” one viewer replied.
Another said: “Oh this is gonna be a tear jerker... That shot of Senna going into Tumberello... AH I am not ready for this!!”
Senna premieres Friday, November 29 on Netflix.
