Be At One is offering free Halloween cocktails in exchange for turnips

Some spooky happenings are taking place across London bars this month.

Among them, Be At One is offering free creepy cocktails, but there’s just one catch – you’ll need to bring a turnip along.

Taking Halloween back to its roots – when turnips were used before pumpkins – guests will receive one of the bar’s limited edition cocktails in exchange for the vegetable.

Thirsty customers can choose from a You Ain’t Got No Fangs dark and stormy, an Evil Eye tequila cocktail, a rum-based Zombie Apocalypse or a gin-heavy Lethal Injection.

While the offer may seem supernatural, it's actually for a good cause. The “Turnip Turn Up” campaign – yes, that's really its name – will send all the donated veggies to homeless shelters and soup kitchens nationwide, from October 21 – 31.

It's one turnip (and cocktail) per guest, so raiding your grandparent’s allotment won’t be necessary.

Free cocktails can be claimed every evening at any Be At One bar until 10pm, excluding Friday and Saturday nights.
