Presenter for The One Show Alex Jones will be briefly returning from maternity leave to host a special episode of the show next week.

On Monday (September 20), Jones will be back on The One Show to unveil 'The BBC One Show and RHS Garden of Hope', which is at this year's Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show.

The world-famous Chelsea Flower Show runs from September 21 to September 26 this year, and the dedicated episode of The One Show airs at 7pm on BBC One.

The 'Garden of Hope' was designed by Gardeners' World presenter and award-winning garden designer Arit Anderson to illustrate how horticulture can provide a sense of hope.

Central to the feature garden will be a wooden sculpture created by Charlie Whinney, which incorporates seating areas and a swing. The One Show previously invited viewers to contribute words to be inscribed on the wooden sculpture.

Alex welcomed a baby girl last month with her husband Charlie Thomson, with whom she already has two sons, Ted and Kit.

On September 1, she returned to The One Show via video call to announce her new daughter's name: Annie.

"We are all beyond happy and besotted by her, especially Ted and Kit," she said on the arrival of baby Annie. "Watching them with their brand new little sister is just the best and we can't believe how lucky we are to have the 3 of them and to be a family of 5. It still doesn't feel real!!!"

After her appearance for the Chelsea Flower Show, Alex will return to her maternity leave, which started in August.

Her co-hosts Ronan Keating and Jermaine Jenas are continuing to hold the fort on the sofa during her absence. The presenters both permanently joined the show in May after Matt Baker's departure.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
