The One Show halted as Russell Watson in tears over touching tribute
On Monday, there was a poignant pause during The One Show as a tearful Russell Watson gathered his composure.
The renowned opera vocalist discussed his musical comeback following two harrowing bouts with brain tumours while conversing with hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on the BBC programme.
Watson started the segment by chiming in with Hollywood star Will Ferrell, recalling his memorable performance in Step Brothers.
He opened up further about how the tumours profoundly impacted his career.
Even after undergoing 25 radiotherapy sessions in 2008, he revealed, "the impact is still there" and he openly talked about suffering through a depressive phase during his road to recovery, reports the Express.

Alex and Roman then played a heart-warming video message from his consultant, Mr Lackett, which reduced Watson to tears.
"17 years on from that brave decision to have the surgery, and look what a glittering career you've had in between," his doctor praised.
"And I can't tell you how much the team and I were so proud to watch you and your progress after that awful night when you were taken into hospital as an emergency.
"We're thrilled for you. Well done, Russell."
Once the video ended, Roman swiftly reached for a box of tissues, putting the show on hold as Watson found his footing again, lightly chiding the hosts with, "Why did you do that?"
An empathetic "Aww" came from Alex as Russell dried his eyes.
Russell remarked, having collected himself, "What a man," and added, "And so lovely as well. So down to earth.
"Just a beautiful human being," Russell continued, still visibly affected. "I will be eternally grateful to him."
The singer's health journey and his return to music have become the central themes of his new memoir, Encore, which is due for release this week.
"I'm singing better than I've ever sung and just loving life," he shared with the hosts.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
