The One Show's Matt Baker and Alex Jones have joined with many fans and friends of the late Keith Chegwin in paying tribute to his life and legacy following his passing.

News broke earlier on Monday (December 11) that the former Celebrity Big Brother and The Big Breakfast presenter had succumbed to a "long-term battle with a progressive lung condition", his family said.

Chegwin remains a fixture of many a childhood through his many years on Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and Cheggers Plays Pop, which The One Show higlighted in their own salute to the actor.

In the final moments of Monday's episode, The One Show's Matt Baker and Alex Jones took a moment to say goodbye to the 60-year-old presenter.

"Before we go, we wanted to say how sorry we were to hear of the death of Keith Chegwin who died at the age of 60," Alex Jones told viewers.

"He was a big part of many people's childhoods," Matt Baker concurred. "We all want to say goodbye to Cheggers."
