The One Show's Alex Jones was forced to hit back at some less than complimentary comments from viewers on Wednesday night (March 31) after she was jokingly compared her to a boisterous yellow and pink monster we haven't seen in a while.

Alex wore a light pink cardigan with yellow lettering and playfully called out her haters at the end of the show when she pointed out that a number of tweets had come in comparing her to none other than Noel's House Party nightmare favourite, Mr Blobby.

Addressing the barrage of social media comparisons, Alex joked: "I've had lots of comments as well on Twitter, thank you very much, saying how much I look like Mr Blobby."

Thankfully, the star saw the funny side and even admitted that she too thought she looked like the classic character after it was pointed out.

"To be fair, now that you mention it... I can't help but agree. Why didn't I see that before I got dressed?" she asked co-host Jermaine Jenas.

The former footballer got a bit cheeky, admitting, "I did. I just didn't tell you." Charming!

Twitter did go in on poor Alex though, as the Fashion Police was certainly out in force on Tuesday night.

"#TheOneShow @MissAlexjones looking like mr blobby today," one person wrote.

The jokey comparisons came only a few days after Alex revealed on the show that she's expecting her third child with husband Charlie Thomson.

The star confirmed the news while sitting alongside co-host Ronan Keating last week, revealing: "We've had some really unexpected news: baby number 3 is on the way!"

Alex and Charlie are already parents to 4-year-old son Teddy and 1-year-old Kit.

The One Show airs Mondays through Fridays at 7pm on BBC One.
